
This course introduces students to the essential concepts and methods of statistics used in psychology and the social sciences. Topics include descriptive statistics (measures of central tendency and variability), probability theory, sampling distributions, hypothesis testing, and effect sizes.
Students will learn parametric and non-parametric tests such as t-tests, analysis of variance (ANOVA), correlation, regression, and chi-square tests, as well as more advanced methods including factor analysis and reliability testing. Emphasis is placed on statistical reasoning, interpreting results, and applying statistical techniques to psychological research using appropriate software tools (e.g., SPSS). As a conclusion, students will be able to design studies, analyze quantitative data, and critically evaluate research findings.
