This course will define and explain abnormal behaviors, the history of psychopathology, paradigms, classification and diagnosis, clinical evaluation, research methods used in psychopathology, anxiety disorders, depression and mood disorders from a psychoanalytic perspective. While this course is an introduction to behavioral disorders students will examine these disorders using a clinical psychological approach and to do this, they need to understand the definition of psychopathology and the concept of “abnormal” from a variety of psychological theories to create a formulation. Selected approaches to examining psychopathological disorders, causality, valid empirical findings, theoretical models, and effective theoretical approaches will be discussed.
