This course will provide an understanding of what psychology is, the scope it covers, and its importance of psychology in the academic, professional, social, romantic and personal framework. The developmental history of psychology will be covered in addition to how research in psychology was and is done today. Subfields of psychology like social, clinical, educational, and political will also be explored. Also the psychoanalytic, psychodynamic, behavioral, cognitive behavioral and humanistic schools of psychology will be examined. Understanding human behavior is extremely important and to do this, we need to have an understanding of how or mind and brain function. The biological bases of behavior and topics like sensation and perception, personality, memory, abnormal behavior and intelligence will be covered.
